Traveling to Nagoya and looking for a place to eat a good Tempura at a reasonable price?
Try TEMPURA & WINE KOJIMA. It’s a casual tempura restaurant of Izakaya (Japanese pub) style. This restaurant is popular for its lively atmosphere and the uniqueness for its wide range of menu. As the word of wine is in the name of the restaurant, the restaurant has a sommelier and offers you a variety of wine. Tempura and Wine together may not sound so familiar, however, the tempura here actually goes with wine pretty well.
Now they have 3 restaurants around Nagoya station, this time I went to the one in Fushimi. It’s about 5 minutes walk from Fushimi station, Nagoya subway.
It was after 18:00 on a midweek evening, there was no customer inside the restaurant and some of the tables were reserved and people start coming in after 19:00. The menu is on the wall, the dish’s name, its amount and price. They have an appetizer, tempura, and rice bowl dishes, etc. All of the menus are priced very reasonably and one dish comes in a small portion, you can try a wide variety of menu. They have regular tempura such as shrimp, vegetables, mushroom and so on, but also they prepare very unique tempura which you will only find in Japan. Although the menu doesn’t sound familiar to you, they all are pretty good so you may want to try that for your new experience.
You may want to start with this special canape and a glass of sparkling wine to start.
Since the restaurant is locating in one of the busiest towns of Aichi, the restaurant is always filled with businessmen and women. Here, you can eat what local eats and enjoy the local atmosphere at one of the restaurants your tourist guide book doesn’t say.
